Durga Devi, the Cosmic Feminine, fought the demon Mahishasur for 9 days. On the 10th day, she vanquished him with her trishul (trident), saving the worlds from their troubles. The 10th day of Navaratri festival is celebrated as Dushehra / Vijaya Dashami, symbolizing the victory of consciousness over negative influences & negative thought currents.
